The Hialeah Salita is a joint project of hiccup, Annette Collazo, and Que Pasa Hialeah, a grassroots network of activists, artists, entrepreneurs, professionals and others committed to strengthening civic culture and spearheading a dynamic public sphere in the city.  La Salita is intended as a periodic conversation series structured around specific themes. Its goal is to galvanize a public around selected speakers and generate debate about issues of community concern, such as voting apathy, littering, facing sea level rise, memory and immigration, gender violence, prejudice and difference, politics of space, public art, etc.
